Cañon City’s sesquicentennial will consist of a yearlong celebration of Cañon City’s 150th anniversary. Every month, there will be a new theme for the “First Friday” Celebration to mark the occasion.
The anniversary year encourages residents and visitors to explore themes of history and education, innovation and entrepreneurship, social equity and robust democracy, as well as arts and leisure.
Taking place on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at the Embassy Suites on Commerce Center Drive in Colorado Springs, guests will be able to browse through records, LPs, CDs, cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes, and 8-tracks as well as purchase posters, t-shirts, and memorabilia. Furthermore, there will be plenty of free on-site parking and great food trucks.

The Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival is a 3-day celebration of women and others who are often unseen, unheard, and misunderstood. With the purpose of cultivating awareness, empathy, and a deeply connected community, all eyes shift each year in November to the array of talent in the women’s movie-making community.
This year’s festival dates are Friday to Sunday, November 11 – November 13, 2022 at Colorado College. Created by Jere E. Martin and Donna Guthrie in 1987, each year since the Women’s Film Festival has attracted every generation from college students to retirees.
