Winston Churchill has just been awarded honorary US citizenship by President John F. Kennedy. In recognition of this unprecedented occasion, The American-Oxford Society has asked the former Prime Minister to address them and discuss what this honor means to him. In this often funny, sometimes touching and always engaging one-man- show, veteran British actor, David Payne, brings Churchill to life onstage. Audiences will be delighted to hear of his exploits during the Boer War, his constant battles with Britain’s fellow politicians, his special relationship with America and America’s presidents. But most telling of all, Churchill enlightens the audience with intimate and touching details of the two special women in his life—his wife Clementine and Queen Elizabeth. With elements of The Crown and The Darkest Hour, David Payne once again gives audiences an opportunity to spend an evening with one of the greatest historical figures in the world—Sir Winston Churchill.

A phenomenally successful instrumentalist whose recordings routinely made the pop, R&B, and jazz charts during the 1980s and ’90s, Kenny G‘s sound became a staple on adult contemporary and smooth jazz radio stations. He’s a fine player with an attractive sound (influenced a bit by Grover Washington, Jr.) who often caresses melodies, putting a lot of emotion into his solos. Because he does not improvise much (sticking mostly to predictable melody statements), his music largely falls outside of jazz. However, because he is listed at the top of “contemporary jazz” charts and is identified with jazz in the minds of the mass public, he is classified as jazz.

The 27th Annual Chile & Frijoles Festival is being planned in full force! After a year of downsized events, we are happy to announce we are planning at full scale.

In some places, the sight of falling leaves is synonymous with fall. In Pueblo, the savory aroma of roasting chilies signals summer’s end. This is Pueblo’s harvest celebration. The festival is hosted by the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce.

Every year, thousands pay homage to Pueblo’s best-loved crop: green chilies, particularly Pueblo Chile.

The event features live entertainment, street vendors, cooking competitions, and chilies, chilies, chilies! Held downtown along Union Avenue, the festival draws Pueblo residents as well as people from across the state and around the nation.

The Chile & Frijoles festival has many opportunities for Community Partnerships. If your company is interested in participating, consider becoming an Official Chile Fest Community Partner. This entails becoming a Gate Sponsor with benefits that last throughout the year! Contact Ava Deherrera for more information.
