Doors will open at 8 am.

The Corsair was an outstanding naval fighter during the latter half of the Pacific war. It was both an excellent air-to-air fighter and a great ground-support aircraft. It is best known for its role in the South Pacific where the Marines used it with devastating effect in the island campaigns. This presentation will focus on the development of the Corsair and its performance in combat with special emphasis on VMF-214, the Black Sheep Squadron led by Greg “Pappy” Boyington. It will also cover the history of the museum’s F3A-1 Brewster-built Corsair.

Matt Ouding, a longtime civilian and military aviator, will tell the story of the Corsair in World War II.
